City walk is an original painting from new artist, Paul Oughton. Paul is self-taught from the North East of England. He started to paint eight years ago as a hobby and quickly became hooked on the creativity that painting provided which was a far cry from his previous occupation. Having travelled extensively, memories became the subject of Paul’s paintings in many different styles and mediums. Some memories are by definition abstract which has given rise to his latest Cityscape collection of paintings. Details are omitted and the blanks are filled in by the viewer’s own imagination thereby bringing their own memories to the fore. To Paul, this is what art does, it provokes thought and mood to the viewer… or it provokes an escape from everyday life.
