The Maker of Rex the Mouse is Chris Kampf from Somerset. After studying Jewellery and Silversmithing in Leicester a long long time ago, he soon turned his hand to welding, producing a wide range of weird animals and larger pieces of furniture.

These were all destined for Camden, where he opened a successful shop, gaining a wonderful array of local and international clients, leading to several trips abroad to work on larger projects.

Moving to Covent Garden was his next move, where Chris stayed for a ten year stretch until starting a family and settling in Somerset.

Since the move Rex the Mouse has spread rapidly through a network of galleries reaching as far as Scotland and Northern Ireland. No one knows what his next move will be…not even Chris.

An Artist Proof (AP) in modern practice is usually used to describe an impression of the finished work that is virtually identical to the “standard” limited edition. It does however have special value because of its extra rarity.

Normally there are no more than an additional 10 % of the edition size of the standard image produced as Artist Proofs. By convention, the artist does not sell these all at once. (Wikipedia)

Among the most popular contributors to British contemporary painting, the self-taught painter Jack Vettriano is one of Scotland’s best known modern artists, and a leading figure in British contemporary art. His formulaic style of genre-painting, typically set in the 1930s, either at the seaside or in dance halls, restaurants and hotels, is highly recognisable and very popular.

Born in Fife, Scotland in 1951, Jack Vettriano left school at sixteen to become a mining engineer. For his twenty-first birthday, a girlfriend gave him a set of watercolour paints and, from then on, he spent much of his spare time teaching himself to paint.

Over the last twenty years, interest in Vettriano’s work has grown consistently. There have been sell-out solo exhibitions in Edinburgh, London, Hong Kong and New York.

His best known painting, The Singing Butler was sold at Sotheby’s for close to £750,000. He was awarded an OBE for Services to the Visual Arts and was the subject of a South Bank Show documentary, entitled ‘Jack Vettriano: The People’s Painter‘.

Through careful study and documentation, Chris brings life to his favored subjects using the ancient method of lost wax casting.

Of particular interest to Chris, are the charming turtles that he often sees from his surfboard. The wisdom and playful demeanor of these sage elder statesmen who reside beneath the waves provide Chris with endless subject matter for his artwork.

A homage to the vast diversity of the natural world. Clive creates majestic wire tree sculptures from single strands of silver wire.

The beauty of this art is that no two sculptures are ever the same. There may be similarity of style between pieces, material used, or the type of tree being represented, but the way they are made means that every sculpture is absolutely unique.

Working in figurative sculpture allows me to challenge the preconception of figurative art while continuing my belief in the use of recycled materials and its inherent methodology.

Edge Sculptures

Influenced by style rather than subject, Matt Buckley has designed a unique feel to each piece with a dramatic mix of form, light and texture.

Each sculpt has been originally sculpted from clay, which allows the sculptor to be freer, giving the pieces that dynamic and organic feel, stylised by Edge Sculptures.

The finished clay sculpt 'masters' are then taken to be moulded, and each subsequent piece has been carefully hand cast from this mould using ceramic polystone, which allows for the faithful reproduction of detail and texture applied to the original sculpt.

The finishing touch is the skilful application of hand painting and finishing, which brings the sculpt to life. The end result is a centre piece and talking point for anyone's living room!
